…that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
(1 Corinthians 2:4)

For the Lord Jesus Christ to be your shepherd you have to follow and be led by His Word and Spirit.  Luke 6:46 states, “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do the things which I say?”  You hear many times of Christians failing or living in defeat.  Many are in deep financial or physical trouble.  Most of the time you see that they are trusting in the powers of this world or their intellect and formulas.  Many times they trust in quick cures or formulas with a so called Christian wrapper on it.  Just because a Christian says or sells it, does not mean it is based on God’s Word.  Unless your total trust is in and on Jesus Christ and His Word you will not succeed.

Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
(Matthew 7:24-25)

There are many things and formulas that people make a Christian.  Christian means to be Christ-like.  Jesus says His Word would not fail.

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.  For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
(Colossians 2:8-10)

The Word of God does not and will not fail you.  If your trust is in any man or a watered down gospel with a worldly philosophy you will be disappointed.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
(2 Timothy 4:3-4)
But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.
(2 Peter 2:1)
